CONTINUOUS STITCHING

I don't often do Continuous Stitching but I thought that I would show you how to do it, it might be a lovely way for you to stitch. I didn't think of showing this technique until after I added the first trangle so I'll show you from this point on.

In the Y Seam post, I showed you how to sew on the next piece but did not have you cut the thread. I didn't have you cut the thread because we are going to add the next piece with the same length of thread.

Pin piece #20 into place. Go down in the corners, come up a stitch away and do a back stitch in the same place. Continue to the center, take a back stitch and pass the needle through the seam.

Swing the back piece up and sew to the end. Another Y seam in the making. Continue to the end of the seam.

Press so you have the swirly. If the thread is too short to continually add on the next piece, anchor the thread into the seam allowance and cut it. Re-thread and start some more continuous stitching.

Again, it looks very nice on the front.

Doing continuous stitching can result in faster piecing...none of the start and stops to re-thread the needle. When you are constructing a block, take a real good look at it to determine if continuos stitching would be possible.
